The second part of the country-focused training, the first part of which was held online from January 24 to February 11, 2022, was held in Kitakyushu in May this year after it was postponed last year.
Thirty two participants were divided into two groups of 16, and both trainings were held during the training period. Each training takes a period of two short weeks, but the training was effectively done with lectures and visits to care facilities for women and children in Kitakyushu City.
Since at the time there was only one women’s shelter managed by NGOs in Bhutan, the participants asked many questions regarding shelters in lectures and visits.
During the discussion with staff in charge of protection and care for children in Kitakyushu City, they exchanged their opinions and explored mutual issues and solutions beyond their own country. Since recently there has been an increase in crime committed by children in Bhutan, it was a good opportunity to visit Tagawa Fureaigijyuku and understand basic principles of protection, care and rehabilitation.
KFAW will maintain a network with the participants by attending the progress report presentations, and continue to exchange information.
